A YouTuber called Pop Arena is doing a show-by-show Nickelodeon retrospective called Nick Knacks. It’s a roughly chronological (meaning chronological by year) look at every show that’s ever aired on Nick (excluding those that only aired on Nick at Nite and those that had very short runs, which are instead getting episodes dedicated to them as a whole) and the episode on Maple Town just went up. I should probably warn that he’s a bit critical of the writing (although he seems to think the show is good overall), so if you don’t want to listen to that, then this video might not be for you, but I’m still posting it here partly because I like Nick Knacks, but also because I think it’s a good look at the show.

I watched this! ^^ It was a bit harsh on the writing, yeah, but it also acknowledged how absolutely beautiful the animation was and how the art creates a sense of nostalgia for places you've never been to... it's beautiful. There's some interesting stuff about Saban there too that I didn't know about before! Amazing how different Nickelodeon was back then... it must be a testament to Maple Town's merits that it was picked up when they were against cartoons designed solely to sell toys.
