Made a throw away account so I could drop this in here. Someone did a webrip of the original 1986 Maple Town eps off the Toei Animation website, and put all 52 eps on Internet Archive. Japanese dub, no sub. Still if you want to see the original series as it was intended, here's the link: archive.org/download/maple-town-1986

UPDATE: Managed to download all the episodes off Internet Archive, so at least somebody has them if they somehow go poof from the website. Included some screenshots to show quality.

UPDATE 2: Apparently it was a screen capture, as there's a few moments in the video when a right click window appears over the video itself. I included a couple screenshots when it appears, this one in particular from 01x06 - The Medicine from Maple Mountain.

Hmm, maybe I could upload both seasons in uncompressed DVD remux quality there instead? I wonder if that's allowed on Archive.org.

I remember seeing this sort of thing in the subbed episodes. Hmm, maybe I could upload both seasons in uncompressed DVD remux quality there instead? I wonder if that's allowed on Archive.org. I don't really see what would be different between the DVD files and the screen captures as far as following the terms of service go.

I don't really see what would be different between the DVD files and the screen captures as far as following the terms of service go. I guess I can try. Though it's noticeable that Toei constantly deletes some videos on youtube, but maybe they haven't gottent to this resource yet and it'll survive for some time.
