Toei seems content to leave Palm Town buried. The jerks.
At any rate, it didn't show up on that video service after Maple Town was taken off. If it happens, it'll be after the Maple Town DVDs have finished their run, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Palm Town is mentioned in the description though. It says that the original series had an average viewership of 11.8%, while Palm Town had an average of 15.2%.
I can see sort of see why Toei would rather showcase the original series, since it's of higher quality both in animation and writing, and feels more timeless than Palm Town, which reeks a lot more of 80s commercialism. Still, Palm Town in Japanese is what I really want! Maybe if the sales are good they'll consider it.
I'm kind of worried about them squeezing 26 episodes onto only three discs, meaning that some discs will have 9 episodes on them. I hope the quality still looks good, and that there still will be some bonus features.

I also just noticed that between the two announced DVD sets, we're getting only 20-something eps of the series. That's less than what the VHS release covered.
On the upside, the Palm Town DVD sets cover about the same number of episodes, which is 20-something eps of Palm Town more than we currently have in any format. ^_^;

will this be an only japan release? I wish it was worldwide, it's kind of hard to get things from japan shipped correctly. I'm gonna keep my hopes up anyway!

The odds of anyone licensing a nearly 30-year-old anime series in this day and age are...pretty slim. Especially since it's a Toei series, and I understand Toei isn't exactly friendly with foreign licensors. I think FUNi might be one of the only companies left with the pull and resources to bring over Maple Town and Palm Town if they wanted, but there's pretty much no market for them over here.
