This gallery reminds me of one thing I've always found annoying about the toys: how come they're never wearing shoes? And their paws look a bit odd, too. Are my eyes on the fritz, or is Rolley five-toed when her parents are only three-toed?
Besides that: good times, this. I hadn't seen most of these screencaps of the show before. Interesting how few sources give Rolley's parents' names: the actual romanizations may vary depending on your source, but from me, they're Dahlia and Palabra.

Thanks for posting these pictures! I really, really wish they had made figures out of more Palm Town characters. This gallery reminds me of one thing I've always found annoying about the toys: how come they're never wearing shoes? And their paws look a bit odd, too. Are my eyes on the fritz, or is Rolley five-toed when her parents are only three-toed? Yeah, I guess at the time Bandai didn't think it was worth the hassle to make shoes for such small figures. Sylvanians didn't have them after all. And sliding plastic shoes on and off would likely damage the flocking. They did produce a set of slippers in Japan though. Your eyes are unfortunately right. Although the clip-type version of Rolley has three toes, the regular version has five. Patty has also had either five or three toes in all her different versions. I... I try not to think too hard about it... Yeah, romanizations are a lot of fun. I have a hard time deciding how to romanize certain characters' names. For example, the Mayor's surname I would normally romanize as "Ryan", but that doesn't reflect lion-pun very well, so I prefer "Lyon". On the show however, his name has been written as "Laian", but I won't take that spelling too seriously. "Laurie" or "Lorry" are actually perfectly acceptable romanizations of Rolley's name, since in Japanese language there is no distinction between the L and R sound. But as you've probably seen, her name is always written as "Rolley" in the show, as well as on merchandise and promotional material from Japan, so that's why I'll always use that spelling (even though it is a pretty odd name).

Do you know what's the name of Pattys father and brother? Also her mothers name is "Cristina", her aunt "Jane", her sister "Ann" and "Rachel" (in the english version) and her uncle "George" or "Geogre" (I don't know which version is right). Her little brothers name (I heared) is "Mick" and "Ricky" and her fathers name is "Janick", is that right?

Actually Patty's mother's name is Christine in the Japanese version. Her father's name is Marcel. Her little brother's name can be "Mick", but since most of Patty's family have names of French origin (her baby sister is named "Cosette"), I like to spell it "Mique".
And George is the correct spelling of her uncle's name. Geogre can only be a misspelling.

Sounds like I've missed an auction here! Which eBay was it on?
Yes, Lamb is a Sheep. Her full name is "Lamb Sheep". XD
Did the Panda figure have red or blue overalls (if it had the right clothes)? If they are red, it's actually the mother.

Are my eyes on the fritz, or is Rolley five-toed when her parents are only three-toed? One thing I find kind of odd is that the characters in the show wear shoes in the first place, given how the pitch book depicted them bare-pawed. Always thought it looked a bit cuter that way, to be honest, and given the limitations of the toys...

I'm pretty sure the characters were originally designed wearing shoes. The art in the first Tonka brochure is in a different style from the Japanese artwork, and the characters are drawn to better reflect the toys (not only in lack of shoes, but the oufits they wear as well).
As for why they chose to design the characters with shoes, even though the toy figures weren't going to get them... maybe they thought it would make it easier for the audience to connect with the characters... but really, it's just a minor detail.
For Palm Town there were larger dolls of Patty and Rolley produced that had changeable shoes.
